Current Skincare Routine

What is your current skincare routine? When I was in my twenties, my skincare routine consisted basically on cleansing my face with the Noxzema cleansing cream (so old school, I know lol), and that's it! Lol! No serum, moisturizer or spf. Terrible right?!

It wasn't until I was in my early thirties that I started to appreciate the importance of having a good skincare routine. Funny story:

I got sick in 2011 and had to be hospitalized. I was in there for almost a week. My wonderful sister (who by the way has always had an impeccable skincare routine since forever) - and is 3 years my senior, would visit me without fail. On one such visit, the doctor that was on call walks in and says "Don't worry miss, your mom is going to be just fine." MOM?! I was furious lol! I had cables coming out of the wazoo, but as soon as that doctor left, I asked my sister "do you have your makeup bag?" Of course she did 😊, so I dragged myself (and all my cables) into the bathroom and did my makeup for the first time in forever. And never again did I miss out on taking care of my skin.

So without further ado, allow me to share my current skincare routine and favorites:

1- Cleanse:
The first thing I do is cleanse my skin with a balm. Normal cleansers, even the ones for sensitive skin, tend to leave my skin feeling tight. With a cleansing balm or cleansing oil, I remove my makeup easily without my skin feeling stripped. My current favorite is:

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm: This balm from Elemis is my hands down favorite. Not only does it remove my makeup and leave my skin feeling fresh - the aromatherapy experience is phenomenal, with the organic lavender scent.

Exfoliate:
After cleansing I like to exfoliate. I have a weird combination of oily/dry skin, so exfoliation with a gentle exfoliant is a must, otherwise my skin starts to look textured and peel on my forehead. My favorite exfoliant is:

Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder: Because it is a non abrasive exfoliator, it is gentle enough for me to use daily, leaving my skin smooth and without the texture.

Tone:
I like to use a micellar water to tone. Like I mentioned before, I have oily/dry skin. This means that products for oily skin, strip my skin too much - creating texture and overproduction of sebum. Because of this, my current go to is:

IT Cosmetics Miracle Water Micellar Cleanser: Not only does this pick up whatever I may have left behind in the first two steps, but it also has antiaging and brightening benefits.

Serums:
After my skin is nice and clean, it's time for me to put on my serums. I use two serums (although you don't have to). The first one is a retinol serum, while the second is more like a hybrid between a serum and a moisturizer. They are:

Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution: This is the first serum I put on because it is the more liquid one, and if you use retinol, it should be the first thing you put on your skin after cleansing.

The second serum I put on is:

Elemis Peptide4 Night Recovery Cream Oil: I want to call this a serum because it does have sort of a serum texture. This is my holy grail. On my super lazy nights that I do not want to go through my whole routine, this is all I use after cleansing.

Moisturize Face and Eyes:
My last step in my routine. Once again I turn to Dr. Dennis gross for my face moisturizer. I love this one because it's not too heavy, I get the anti aging benefits and it's a great compliment to the serum:
Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic + Retinol Anti Aging Moisturizer:

For my eyes I once again turn to Tatcha. I love how decadent their eye cream is, and I do feel like it hydrates my under eyes well. Also, I have really sensitive eyes and this is the only eye cream that does not sting! It is:
Tatcha Ageless Revitalizing Eye Cream:

That wraps my night time skincare routine. After this I just do some journaling and go to sleep. It may seem like a lot of steps, but it really does not take me long. My hope is that my recommendations might help you find your next cant live without product😊

I would love to know what your night time skincare routine consists of. Do you have one? What are your cult favorite products?  Let me know in the comments!

Until then: Live purposefully, Love passionately and once in while Wear Lipstick!💕
