Hello Friends! As I write this post, I am filled with nostalgia. Clearly a child that grew up in the 80's and 90's, I miss and think about how times have changed. A phone call has been replaced by a text, and receiving a wonderfully handwritten letter in the mail has been replaced with a tag on an instagram post or a meme lol!
I can fully appreciate all the conveniences of today - don't get me wrong lol! But, I also appreciate that some "old school" trends are making a comeback. The other day, my daughter asked me if I could buy her a Vitrola and some Taylor Swift vinyl records! I have also come to enjoy the sight of some 90's fashions as well while starting to shop for fall essentials.
There is one trend, however, that I don't consider has made quite the comeback, only because it never quite went away.
I am talking about The Expressions from Hallmark and Heartline Greeting Cards. And now that you can find them at your local Dollar Tree, it's a win win. There are over 6,800 Dollar Tree stores nationwide so they are easily accessible - and - if you do not have a Dollar Tree near you, no sweat - just go to:

There are literally hundreds of cards to choose from. I love the display that they have at my local Dollar Tree. Aside from the Expressions from Hallmark and Heartline a Hallmark Company, they have other lines under the Hallmark umbrella, so different cultures are represented. There's the Hallmark Joyfully Yours line. This line includes messages of faith. The Mahogany line celebrates Black culture, the Tree of Life line celebrates the Jewish faith and the Vida line celebrates Latin culture.
The Expressions from Hallmark cards are $1 each, while the Heartline a Hallmark Company cards are 2 for $1, so you can celebrate any moment and every moment without breaking the bank! I personally like to buy a couple of cards every time I go on my Dollar Tree runs, and have them in a keepsake box. That way I have a variety of cards ready for when an occasion arises, or I just feel like reaching out to someone and letting them know I'm thinking about them aside from the random text.

Some cards are uplifting, some are empowering.....

Some are funny, and some are just too darned cute!!

Many a time I have been surprised, and touched with a card in the mail from one of my dear friends, and likewise, I find that it has been a wonderful way for me to show those that I hold dear to my heart - in a genuine and more personal way that I am thinking of them. It's such a seemingly small detail that can make such a profound difference in someones day and mood. And in my true fashion.....let me share a story.....

My husband and I, as many do in their marriages at some point, were not okay. Actually, that's an understatement -we had separated. I had always felt that our relationship was all about him and his needs. I kid you not, this was not an exaggeration. The helpless romantic that I am, I used to go "all out" as they say, and make every important date for him a full blown occasion, while on his part - he would not only forget my birthdays, anniversaries and every other holiday on the calendar - he was quite unapologetic about it. All I ever asked for year after year was a freaking love letter! The dang thing was FREEEEE!! (Rant over lol!!😂). Oh, and just to be clear - we did not separate because he wouldn't get me presents or write me the love letter or forget important dates - that was just one of many things, as it happens with many relationships that don't work out.
At that time (yes I have many stories lol), he wanted to come back home but I wasn't ready for it. The only thing worse than being alone is, feeling like the loneliest soul with someone by your side. My kids were really young so they didn't understand. The smallest was only 1 year old, while my oldest was only 4, so when he would visit, the kids would really start crying when he had to leave and plead with me to let him stay. Telling them no, and having to literally peel them off their dad was really rough.
Then, after his visits, I would start finding greeting cards in random places. The first card just said "I'm Sorry", with his name written on it. When we saw each other, I would thank him and that's it, we would speak no more of it. Then, I'm guessing as he got more comfortable with expressing his feelings maybe, not only were the messages on the greeting cards more sweeter, but the handwritten messages were longer, deeper and well thought out. Long story short, those greeting cards - believe it or not my friends, were the stepping stone to a better communication between us, but also our reconciliation. As it had turned out, he was just not good at expressing himself, even though he admits, many times he wanted to. Those cards - he says - helped him very much, because the times where he did not know quite what to say, he always found a card that helped him express himself without him saying a word. And yes, I did eventually get my love letter - so dreams do come true lol!

I personally love the the Expressions from Hallmark and the Heartline a Hallmark Company cards in particular because even though they are cheap, they are NOT cheaply made. The pictures with the messages are well thought out, the card stock is of good quality and the even the envelopes are color coordinated and not flimsy at all. Just go to your Dollar Tree, or go online to  www.dollartree.com/Expressions-From-Hallmark you will not be disappointed.
